How to Commission a Fursuit
Commissioning a fursuit maker is a long and exciting process. You're probably looking at this page wondering how the commissioning process goes. On this page I'll cover everything you need to know to be fully prepared, mentally and physically for a fursuit!
Before Commissioning
There are a few things you will need to have.
The items you will need in order to commission are:
- Reference sheet,
- Duct tape dummy (if necessary)
- A few meassurements depending on the commission.
Reference Sheet
The reference sheet must be unshaded and have the exact colours you want your actual fursuit to be. This is very important because I'll be colour matching off of the ref sheet. The markings must also be physically possible! What I mean with this is; try to translate the image into a 3D object in your head, are the markings still on the right spot, or do things not make sense? Make sure these are physically possible. It might also be that I request markings to be changd if this problem still occurs when commissioning.
Duct Tape Dummy
The duct tape dummy is only required for a bodysuit or pants. The ducttape dummy has to cover the entire body. You should stop covering up at the ankles, wrists and start of neck. Then mark your tailbone, elbows and knees. There are plenty of YouTube tutorials online for you to follow along!
Measurements
Last but not least, you'll need some measurements. These are the measurements you'll need for the following parts:
- Fursuit Head
- Head circumference
- Head length (from forehead to chin)
- Hand circumference at widest point
- Hand length
- Shoe size
For tails and/or wings, you'll only have to tell me the desired size! These have their unique prices on the pricelist.
Furthermore, there are also a few things you will have to have thought about. What suit would you like? A fullsuit, a partial, a single part.
If commissioning, you'll also have to think of a few sizes of tails and/or wings as said above.
Thinking about what suit you want might be the easier part. The pricelist can guide you a lot helping you choose your option and immediately knowing the pricerange it will be.
